SUBJECT: Long Term Care Insurance/Consumer Brochure

The Kansas regulations on the sale of long term care insurance (K.A.R. 40-4-37j) require companies to provide prospective applicants of a long-term care insurance policy or certificate with a shoppers guide. The carrier may use the shopper's guide developed by the National Association of Insurance Commissioners ("NAIC") or a guide developed or approved by the Insurance Commissioner.

The Insurance Department has developed a Kansas Long Term Care Insurance Shopper's Guide which may be used by insurance companies and agents to fulfill the requirements of the regulation. Use of the Kansas guide is not mandatory if the NAIC shopper's guide is used.

The Insurance Department can provide you with a camera ready copy of the Kansas Long Term Care Shopper's Guide which can be reproduced for use for prospective applicants. Copies of the camera ready art can be obtained by contacting: Vicki Buening, Consumer Education Coordinator, 420 SW 9th Street, Topeka, Kansas 66612-1678, (785) 296-3071; e-mail vbuening@ins.wpo.state.ks.us
