SUBJECT:Administrator for the Kansas Uninsurable Health Insurance Plan

The Kansas Health Insurance Association administers the Kansas Uninsurable Health Insurance Plan pursuant to the provisions of K.S.A. 40-2117 et seq. K.S.A. 2120(a) states that the Board of Directors of the Kansas Health Insurance Association (KHIA) shall select an insurer or third party administrator to administer the plan in accordance with the provisions of said act. The Board is preparing to begin the selection process for a third party administrator to administer the KHIA program for the years 2000-2003. The Board has asked the Insurance Department to inform insurers and third party administrators about this business opportunity.

If an interested party would like to receive an invitation to bid on the contract to administer the KHIA program from the Board, they should contact the department in writing by December 1, 1998. Such acknowledgment shall be directed to the attention of the Accident and Health Division, Kansas Insurance Department, 420 S.W. 9^th Street, Topeka, Kansas 66612.
